International Safety Signs
There are many different types of safety signs all around the world. These signs are designed to help make the community and visitors aware of any potential dangers or health hazards in a given area. Some international safety signs are used for driving, poison, electric currents, caution signs and pedestrian signals. Many of these signs are primarily pictures or illustrations to ensure that the most people possible can clearly interpret the sign without being literate in a foreign language.-
Hard Hat Area
-
Hard hat area construction safety sign. The sign for a hard hat construction area has text to warn readers and an illustration of a human head with a hard hat on for those who may not understand the text of the sign. This sign helps visitors and workers to remember to wear their personal safety equipment--in this case a protective hat--when in an area where these signs are posted.
Electricity/Lightening Hazard
-
International safety sign for electricity or lightning. This sign illustrates a possible electrical or lightning hazard ahead. These signs are used in areas of high voltage as well as areas where there may be uncontrolled energy bursts, such as lightning, which can be extremely dangerous. While the sign has no text, its illustration is in the recognizable shape of a lightning bolt pointed at the ground to indicate the possible electrical hazard. These signs are usually in areas such as construction zones that are not open to the general public, and serve as a warning to anyone entering the area.
Pedestrian Crosswalk
-
A pedestrian crosswalk sign. Pedestrian crosswalks are common throughout the world and will very often feature a sign warning motorists of the possibility of pedestrians in the street. This sign not only cautions motorists of the crosswalk, but also advises pedestrians of areas where it is safe to legally cross the street. Abiding by these signs as either a motorist or pedestrian can help lessen the chances of a traffic accident and prevents traffic violation fines.
