Request an OSHA consultation. This consultation is voluntary; request that a representative from OSHA come to your business by calling or writing OSHA. Consultations are available mostly for small businesses. During the consultation, no citations will be written to the company, because it's not an inspection.

Attend the opening conference with the OSHA consultant. The consultant will review the consultation process with you.

4
Walk through your company with the consultant and any other employees. He will be looking for potential unsafe conditions and/or dangerous substances. Also, the consultant will offer advice or refer you to other programs.

5
Attend the closing conference. The consultant will review her findings with you and give you and your employees suggestions for areas that need improvement. If a serious problem is discovered, the consultant will help you fix or eliminate the problem.
-
6
Review the written report that will be sent to you after the consultation. It will summarize the findings and describe any future steps that you need to take.
