The Best Rubber Chainsaw Boots

Chainsaw boots offer a degree of protection during logging operations. Use rubber when working in damp conditions or when temperatures require a material that will be supple when cold. Consider liners for boots when used extensively or in below freezing temperatures. A number of companies have been making quality boots with good reputations for decades. Boots protect in part by entangling a blade that contacts the inner layers, so be sure to replace any pair that has been damaged.
  1. Viking TimberWolf

    • Studs on the bottom of chainsaw boots are usually removable.

The TimberWolf is a shock resistant rubber boot with nitrile components to resist oil. The toe is reinforced with steel, of course, and it laces in the back to block debris getting into the boot. It's lining is cotton canvas. The soles feature removable metal studs for better grip on the ground, and the boot is built for comfort with air padding under the heels and reinforced areas around the Achilles tendon.

    Hunter-Century Forester

    • A similar boot, the Hunter-Century Forester, also rates with a class three chainsaw protection, which means it offers some protection against chains running at speeds up to 28 meters per second. It is designed to be comfortable for wearing over long periods of time, with cushioning and back laces.

    STIHL

    • STIHL has been manufacturing chainsaws for over 30 years.

STIHL is, of course, well known for its manufacture of chainsaws. STIHL sells a number of safety products to use with its chains, including a rubber boot that advertises resistance to bending, whole foot protection and a reflective band.

    Oregon Yukon

    • The Oregon Yukon meets only a class two standard, but is a more affordable boot with a steel reinforced toe. Oregon sells chainsaw gloves, trousers, and helmets in addition to its boots through its Portland company founded in 1947. It's products, sold in Britain, are distributed through Blount. The sole is slip-resistant and the boot has a pull lace that ties at the top.

    Husqvana

    • Husqvana is a Swedish company founded over 300 years ago.

Husquvana sells two lines of rubber chainsaw boots from its centuries-old center in Sweden. Husquvana is a green manufacturer that hand builds its heavier boot, the 28. The 28 has a class three rating and the 24 has a class two rating. Both are light boots with a reinforced heel and ankle protection.
