Cement plant facilities present a number of health and safety risks. The Buzzi Unicem Cement Plant in Geseke, Germany has been lauded for its health and safety record.

  1. Hazardous Environment

    • Cement plan facilities can be dangerous. Safety issues include handling hazardous substances, wearing proper safety equipment, excavation safety, electrical lockouts, working with cranes and heavy equipment, fire and smoke hazards, welding and cutting.

    Buzzi Unicem

    • In October 2010, the Buzzi Unicem cement plant was recognized by the German Cement Association for its impressive safety record. This is due to Buzzi Unicem being accident-free for 20 years in a row.

    Objective Safety

    • Buzzi Unicem has implanted a health and safety program called Objective Safety. This program draws on local environmental safety policies and integrated management system practices to ensure their safety streak continues into the future.
