Truck Rescue Procedures for a Safety-Bucket
Safety buckets are deep containers used to protect workers from falling from elevated work areas. Various rescue procedures are utilized in emergency scenarios involving safety buckets. The procedures employed are based on individual circumstances.-
Lowering the Boom
-
Lowering the extended boom on a truck is accomplished in different ways. These include using the truck's lowering controls, using the truck's auxiliary power system and bleeding the truck's valves of pressure. The latter allows the boom to safely lower without using the truck's main controls.
Bucket Quick-Release
-
An incapacitated person might be extricated from a safety bucket by lowering the bucket to the ground, and then activating the bucket's quick-release device. This device detaches the bucket from the boom. Rescue personnel extract the injured person from the bucket and administer first aid.
Escape Equipment
-
Sometimes a boom cannot be lowered by normal means. A person trapped in the bucket -- but not incapacitated -- might descend using a harness and rope.
