Toggle Switch Safety
Toggle switches are used in a wide range of industries and work places. One problem with using toggle switches is that they can be accidently moved quite easily. If the switch controls an important safety function, the result can be disastrous.-
Safety Covers
-
To combat the safety threats with toggle switches, a number of companies have developed toggle safety covers to protect against accidental movement of the switch. These switches come in a variety of colors.
Function
-
The safety cover is generally secured to a rigid surface just above the toggle switch. It is on a hinge so it may be easily flipped up and down. When it is down, the switch covers the toggle switch completely. To turn the toggle switch on, flip the safety cover up and then move the switch. To turn the switch off, simply slip the safety cover back down. This will move the switch to the "off" position.
Applications
-
Toggle switch safety covers may be used in a wide range of workplaces. Some of the more pertinent ones include airplane cockpits, military command centers, on heavy farm equipment and professional car racing.
