Instructions
-
The first safety step with any electronic device is to carefully read any instructions, manuals and warnings that the manufacturer includes with the device. No two devices are exactly alike and each has its own safety requirements.
Basic Safety
-
Although devices are different, some basic safety precautions are applicable to nearly all electronic devices. Devices, power cords and connections should be regularly inspected for defects or faulty connections. Make sure devices are turned off before connecting them to a power supply and minimize the presence of liquids around electronic instruments.
Hospital Settings
-
In addition to proper maintenance, hospital workers should wear rubber-soled foot ware that provides proper grounding. All devices should be checked to make sure they are working properly before trying to use them in patient care. Sufficient space should also be ensured around electronic equipment to avoid accidents.
