Steam Hose Safety

Before using a steam hose, make sure you have purchased or selected a hose rated for the type of work you need to do. It is also important, as it is with any tool, to read and understand the manufacturer's instructions.
  1. Use

    • Ensure that the recommended working pressure and temperature is not exceeded and the hose is not allowed to remain under pressure when not in use. Use only recommended couplings and avoid excessive flexing or bending of the hose.

    Maintenance

    • Check the hose regularly for lumps or blisters. They can indicate the hose is weakening. Drain the hose and check the tightness of the clamps after each use. Store the hose carefully to ensure it is not damaged.

    Replacement

    • All steam hoses eventually wear out. When signs of corrosion or cracking begin to appear, discard and replace the hose.
