How to Put on a Powered Air Respirator
Safety in the workplace is essential for all individuals but especially for those who work with dangerous chemicals, biohazards and other contaminants that require the worker to protect themselves through the use of a powered air respirator, according to OSHA. Knowing how to correctly put on a powered air respirator is necessary to ensure its proper function and full protection for the wearer. Connect the powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) hose to the battery powered power pack. Make sure it is securely fastened. Turn the power switch on and check for air flow coming into the hood.

Attach the power pack to your body using the belt. Place the belt around your waist with the power pack in the center of your back. Fasten the belt using the clasp in the front.

Connect the PAPR hose to the PAPR hood at the designated opening at the back of the hood. Check to make sure the hose has not become twisted or kinked.

Place the PAPR hood over your head. Make sure the edges of the hood completely cover your face. Check for air leaks around your face to ensure a good fit with proper protection.
