Pneumatic Hose Safety

There are some rules that can be applied to all pneumatic hoses. It is important to remember that not all hoses are the same and to understand the specifications of the hose you are using.
  1. General Safety

    • Some basic safety rules apply to all hoses. Never carry any tool by the hose. Never disconnect a hose by pulling on it. It is also important to keep cords and hoses away from sharp implements and heat, and to disconnect and store them properly when not in use.

    Specific Hoses

    • Read any and all material that comes with your pneumatic tools and hoses. Instructions will contain specific information such as the maximum pressure a particular hose can take while still being used safely.

    Danger Signs

    • Visually inspecting your hose before using it helps avoid accidents. Hoses should be replaced or repaired if there are flattened or kinked areas, blisters or lumps, cuts or gouges.
