OSHA Facility Inspections Certification

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is responsible for regulating health and safety concerns in the workplace. To ensure businesses are in compliance with OSHA standards, OSHA inspectors perform physical evaluations of select workplaces and issue certifications to those passing the inspection.
  1. Function

    • Receiving an OSHA inspection certification means a facility is in compliance with OSHA standards. A certificate serves as OSHA's approval that a given company is taking the necessary means to keep workers safe. Many types of facilities require OSHA inspection certificates before they can operate for business, including construction and industrial sites.

    Records

    • OSHA maintains records on all facilities that are inspected and certified. Inspection certification records house valuable information, such as the name of the inspector, the date of the inspection, what the findings and outcomes were of the inspection and when, if applicable, the next inspection certification is due for renewal.

    Target

    • According to an October 2010 release by OSHA's Office of Communications, OSHA's intent is to conduct on-site inspections for facilities that have a high rate of incidents, injuries and illnesses, based on recorded statistical data. The types of facilities on their target list include nursing facilities, personal care facilities and manufacturing plants.
