Parking Restrictions for a Full Fuel Tanker Truck
According to Title 40 of Code of Federal Regulations, which pertains to protection of the environment and spill prevention, control and countermeasure plans, fuel tanker vehicles are considered to be fuel storage containers and must be treated as such.-
Regulations
-
In addition to the Code of Federal Regulations, you should also be aware of any additional state or local municipality regulations that restrict where tankers may be parked. Many cities prohibit the parking of hazardous material tankers on their streets.
Gas Stations
-
Truck drivers that are making deliveries to gas stations must ensure that the station is closed to the public and that access to the pump and delivery area is closed during the delivery period.
Truck Stops
-
Trucks may park in designated truck stops. Drivers must park in specifically designated tanker areas. These areas will be as far removed from the public and other trucks as possible. These areas are not close to water, such as rivers and wetlands, in order to prevent damage to the local eco-system in case of leakage or spillage.
