Pipe Threader Safety

Pipe threading may cause bodily harm. A person who wants to avoid being hurt should follow simple precautions. Safety precautions should be used when cleaning the pipe threader and when threading pipe.
  1. Clothing

    • To safely thread pipes, a person should wear appropriate clothing. The person should wear leather gloves to protect his hands. He should use eye protection or a face shield to prevent metal shards from penetrating the eyes or face. Clothes should not be loose so they don't get caught in the threader.

    Operation

    • During operation, a person should not touch the die cut because it may cause hand injuries. Clamp the pipe before the machine is running. The operator's foot should not rest on the foot pedal safety switch.

    Cleaning

    • A pipe threading machine needs to be kept clean. In order to clean the machine safely, a person should wear non-slip shoes to avoid falling if any oil runs onto the floor.

A die cut should never be cleaned while the machine is running.
