Different Styles of Hard Hats

Different hard hats provide various aspects of protection against falling objects in hazardous working conditions, depending on the environment in which they are needed. Although all hard hats provide protection from falling objects, some also provide protection from electrical shock hazards.

  1. Vented Hard Hats

    • Providing six air vents for high circulation that reduces heat buildup, vented hard hats are suitable for maintaining regular body temperature in hot and cold environments, essential for outdoor workers. Lateral contours fitting over the ears offer better hearing protection than standard hard hats. Vented hats come in a lightweight design with an easily adjustable ratchet suspension to keep them from falling off.

    Full-Brim Hard Hats

    • Shielding from dangerous UV rays and falling objects around the ears and neck, full-brim hard hats act as sun protectors while simultaneously offering additional protection from debris. Full-brim hats are safe for construction workers at unstable building sites and working at elevated temperatures. However, their design prevents ear protectors from being worn because their brims close the accessory slot option standard for most hard hats. Their all-around protection still makes them one of the more popular hard hat styles.

    Fiberglass Hard Hats

    • Constructed with fiberglass, an insulating material used in heat-resistant fabrics, fiberglass hard hats provide protection in areas with temperatures up to 500 degrees. Useful for miners and electrical workers, they also insulate against high voltages and are virtually unbreakable.
