CRM Army Training

According to Army Regulation 385-1, composite risk management (CRM) training is the "Army's principal risk reduction methodology." CRM is an integral part of Army safety training conducted at all command levels and is integrated into all mission activities.
  1. Methods

    • All soldiers and Army civilians are required to complete online CRM training within 60 days of arriving at their first duty station. Further scenario driven training is conducted at the unit.

    Descriptions

    • CRM training is available in several modules. The basic course provides an overall look at CRM. Branch modules provide training specific to branch missions such as aviation, armor, artillery and infantry. The Commander's Safety Course is designed specifically for unit commanders.

    Process

    • All CRM training involves a five-step process that includes hazard identification, risk assessment, controls development, controls implementation and supervised evaluation. These five steps are repeated continually to ensure the greatest level of safety.
