ANSI Rules on Safety Vests
The American National Standards Institute has laid down certain regulations which govern the manufacture and features of safety vests. These measures to make safety gear uniform comes from the rising need to ensure that clothing is made in the colors, characteristics and texture which would not jeopardize the health of workers in certain adverse conditions.-
High Visibility
-
Safety vests have to be created with visibility in view. Fluorescent colors such as orange, green and yellow are some examples of shades that can always be seen and glows in the dark. In lighted and darker regions, workers must be able to see and locate one another. Law enforcement officers, fire officers, miners and construction workers are professions which require these high visibility vests.
Velcro and Zippers
-
Velcro and zippers help the safety jackets to be slipped on and removed quickly and more easily. The absence of loops and strings lessens the chances of getting entangled or choked.
Meshes
-
Safety vests also can come with holes or meshes so that the vests do not become waterlogged and cause the clothing to become heavy and hinder movements in rainy weather or wet environments. The meshes permit faster drying times and lighten the weight of the safety vest.
