According to Health Canada, the Radiation Emitting Devices (RED) Act was designed to provide regulations for different classes of x-ray equipment.
Necessary Safety Features

According to Health Canada, industrial x-ray equipment should be equipped with a functioning control console, radiation-shielding and caution labeling. All machines should also have a clear "on/off" control and an automatic radiation alarm system.
