How to Apply Chloraprep Surgical Scrub

Instructions

    • 1

Wash your hands with mild soap and warm water. Put on latex gloves.

    • 2

Shave the hair. If necessary, use an electric razor to shave the surgery site. Chloraprep makes wet hair flammable and it can take up to one hour to dry on a hairy location, versus three minutes to dry on hairless skin.

    • 3

Remove the ChloraPrep applicator from its package and discard the packaging. To release the antiseptic, pinch the barrel on the applicator to break the ampule. Do not touch the applicator tip.

    • 4

Press the applicator tip against the treatment area until liquid is visible on the skin. When applying the surgical scrub to dry surgical sites, stroke the area back and forth for 30 seconds until the area is completely wet. The area needs to dry completely before the surgical procedure can begin. This should take another 30 seconds.

    • 5

Apply the ChloraPrep scrub for two minutes using back and forth strokes on wet application sites. Allow the application to air dry for one minute before the surgical procedure begins.
