MSDS
-
An MSDS is a Material Safety Data Sheet. By federal law, it must accompany chemical products that are packaged for other uses besides the household. The information on an MSDS will inform an employee how to react to an exposure, spill or fire.
Safety
-
Safety happens when an employee is informed or trained in regards to the hazards in their workplace. Armed with an MSDS, an employee will have a good idea how to respond in an emergency. That could involve what personal protective equipment (PPE) is needed, evacuating the area, how to provide first aid and more.
Training
-
Training is mandatory for all employees under HazCom. Many training materials can be received from the OSHA Training Institute. A lot of the materials are free. In fact, many of the training publications can be printed directly from the website in either HTML or PDF formats. There are also many companies in business that will train a company's employees and provide all the materials, at a cost.
