How to Get Started With Workplace Health

Workplace health programs allow employees to participate in team building activities and focus on their wellness. Getting started with workplace health involves implementing programs that will encourage your employees to make healthier choices. Start with representing yourself as a healthy member of your workplace. Make sure you are exercising and eating right. Then add programs that encourage your employees to be healthy as well. These programs should include a change in diet and the addition of an exercise plan.

Start a walking program. Schedule a walking break time in the middle of the day. Encourage all of the employees to be a part of it. Then take the employees for a 30-minute walk.

Have a weight loss competition. Start a 10-week competition where the winner obtains a prize. Make sure each person weighs in secretly so it is not embarrassing. Encourage your employees to exercise together. Provide weekly incentives.

Hire a dietitian. Adding a dietitian to the staff will allow your employees to obtain meals plans and nutritional advice. The dietitian should also provide weekly nutritional classes.

Start a workplace goal. The goal could be that everyone completes a 5K race at the end of six months. Brainstorm with your team and see if people would be willing to participate in this. Post a training schedule and encourage the employees to follow it.
