Industrial Safety Audit Checklist
Safety is an important concern of most businesses, particularly those in the industrial industry. Most industrial businesses will conduct regular safety audits to make sure that the working environment is as safe for employees as possible. This audit also helps bring to light any safety concerns that employees might have. In order to make sure that all safety topics are addressed, many companies will issue an industrial safety audit checklist to supervisors and managers.-
Is the machinery working properly?
-
In an industrial plant the machinery used to construct product can also be a safety hazard to employees. When conducting a safety audit, it is important to re-evaluate the level of functionality of these machines to make sure that they are as safe as possible for employees to use. Supervisors should take note of any malfunctions and clearly label any potential hazards of using the machinery for employees. All machinery malfunctions should be reported immediately to the safety supervisor for repair or replacement before it is used by an employee again.
Employee Training
-
Every supervisor should note whether or not all employees in their charge have undergone safety training. This training should be made available to all employees and should illustrate potential on the job hazards, how to prevent them, and company protocol in case of an accident or emergency. Employees who do not undergo safety training may not be aware of all of the potential hazards of working in an industrial plant, which could result in injury.
Preventative Safety Measures
-
Note whether or not preventative safety measures, such as posted placards and signs, as well as mandatory personal protective equipment for employees, are in place. Damaged or missing signs should be immediately replaced and new ones should be assigned to any unmarked safety concerns. Employees should be made aware of what personal protective equipment their job requires and the company should have a system in place to help provide that equipment for their employees at little or no cost.
