1
Position the sling underneath the patient by tilting him to the side and sliding in the sling horizontally. Tilt to the opposite side and pull the sling through, so two loops are exposed on both sides.
-
2
Unlock the wheels of the Hoyer Lift by stepping on the foot brakes and move it into position, either in front or to the side of the patient.
-
3
Widen the legs of the Hoyer Lift using the shift handle located in the back. Widening the legs is essential in order to get a stable base under the Hoyer Lift.
-
4
Apply the wheel lock so it does not move once the Hoyer Lift is in position. Lower the Hoyer Boom by opening the release valve located on the hydraulic pump. Then, close the valve.
-
5
Attach the the loops on the sling to the corresponding hooks on the end of the boom. Use the pump handle located on the hydraulic pump to raise the boom.
-
6
Open the release valve to lower the patient. The hydraulic pump slowly releases the air, while lowering the patient.
