Online OSHA Outreach Instructor Training

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA's) Outreach Training Program is the federal agency's primary tool to train workers to understand issues related to safe and healthful employment conditions. Online instructor training courses are limited and only include prerequisite courses.
  1. Online Instructor Training

    • Course No. 510 (for the construction industry) and Course No. 511(general industry) are available online. These courses are required before taking the instructor qualification courses.

    OSHA Education Center Training

    • Course No. 501 (general industry) and Course No. 500 (construction industry) are one-week OSHA instructor qualification courses, and are only available at an OSHA education center. Course No. 5400 (maritime industry) has no online courses available.

    Certified Instructors

    • After completion of instructor training, certified instructors can teach workers in either a 10-hour or a 30-hour format.

    10-hour Training Program

    • This program is intended as orientation training for entry-level workers.

    30-hour Training Program

    • This program is intended for experienced workers who are responsible for safety in their areas.

    Online Training Material

    • Instructors can download training material for both the 10-hour and 30-hour programs.
