OSHA Regulations Affecting Tree Care Services

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires all tree care industries to comply with all the general industry standards contained in 29 CFR 1910. Several standards within 1910 are often cited when discussing tree care regulation.

    • This standard outlines the requirements for vehicle-mounted elevating and rotating work platforms, which are often used in tree trimming operations.

    • A helmet is required when there is a risk of falling objects. Head protection is required to comply with American National Standard ANSI Z89.1.

    • This standard covers the general requirements of personal protective equipment. This includes performing risk assessments to ensure the appropriate safety gear is used.
