Authorized trainers are prepared to conduct 30-hour classes or 10-hour classes, which comprise 80 percent of the outreach program, and receive certification cards to distribute to students upon completion of the program.

Complete Course #501, Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry, offered at OSHA Training Institute Education Centers (OTIECs) or the OSHA Training Institute.

Receive student completion cards provided by OSHA.

Provide worker safety information and industry hazard recognition and prevention methods for at least one hour per class meeting.

Complete 10 hours of student training for 10-hour safety certification or 30 hours of student training for 30-hour safety certification.

Issue student safety certification cards.

Retain individual training class records for five years.
