Lap band surgery is not invasive and some patients be out of bed within 45 minutes after the procedure.
Hospital Stay

Some lap band surgery patients are discharged within 24 hours, others within 2 to 3 days. There are some that go home the same day.
Liquid Diet for Up to Two Weeks

After the surgery, lap band patients should only eat liquid foods to allow the stomach to adjust. Overeating will cause vomiting.
Return to Work in Days

Lap band surgery patients can return to work within 3 to 7 days (unless you have a job requiring heavy lifting or strenuous activity). Strenuous activity should be avoided for 6 weeks.
Lap Band Adjustments After Surgery

Adjustments will be made to the lap band after surgery to increase or decrease the stomach. You normally will see your physician once a week up until a month, then every other month up to a year and every 3 to 6 months after a year for the second and third year depending on your doctor.
