What is the recovery time from spinal cord stimulator implant?

Recovery time after a spinal cord stimulator (SCS) implant depends on the individual and the type of implant used. In most cases, hospital stays last for 1-3 days, during which time the patient will be monitored for complications. After that, the patient will need to refrain from strenuous activity for a few weeks, and will usually need to make follow-up visits with their doctor to monitor progress and adjust the settings of the stimulator. Full recovery can generally be expected within a few months of the procedure, and the patient should eventually be able to resume normal activities. However, some people do experience long-term effects such as pain or discomfort around the implant site.
