SmartLipo Safety

SmartLipo is a new form of liposuction. SmartLipo is best performed on small areas of the body with a small amount of extra fat, such as chins and outer thighs, and poses very few health risks.
  1. Procedure

    • SmartLipo uses a specially designed laser to target areas with excess fat. The laser melts the fat while simultaneously affecting the collagen in your skin, causing it to naturally tighten. This melted fat is easier to remove and requires a much smaller vacuum.

    Safety perks

    • When compared with traditional liposuction, SmartLipo is a fairly safe option. Because the process is relatively noninvasive, performed under local anesthesia and requires no large incisions, the chance of complications like infection are extremely slim. With thousands of procedures completed, no life-threatening complications have been reported due to the surgery.

    Health concerns

    • While the risk of serious health complications is low, swelling, bruising and moderate to severe pain after surgery is to be expected. After a SmartLipo procedure many patients are prescribed a painkiller and will be out of commission for at least a few days. As with any surgery, the risk of infection is still present, and may pose a serious health risk.
