What is a cliptomaniac?

Kleptomaniac, not cliptomaniac, refers to an individual who has a recurrent inability to resist urges to steal items despite a lack of financial or personal need. Kleptomania is classified as an impulse control disorder in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). Individuals with kleptomania experience feelings of tension or excitement building up before the theft and feel relief or gratification afterward.
