Facelift Complications
Women turn to face lift procedures to help restore a youthful appearance to the face. Face lifts are relatively safe procedures, but as with any surgery complications can arise that tend to be temporary for most patients.-
Reaction To Anesthesia
-
Some patient experience nausea and vomiting due to anesthesia after surgery. This is a short-term complication that goes away within a few hours.
Bleeding
-
Light bleeding is normal after surgery, however, uncontrolled bleeding is dangerous and can lead to hematomas.
Hematoma
-
A hematoma develops when bleeding occurs under the skin and is painful. A second surgery is needed to stop blood flow and to remove the hematoma.
Infection
-
Symptoms of infection after a face lift are swelling, redness, and a feeling of heat that surrounds the incision. Antibiotics are prescribed to clear the infection up.
Numbness
-
Numbness is a temporary side effect that happens when the nerves are cut during a face lift. Once the nerves heal, feeling should return.
