Side Effects of Neck Liposuction

In addition to face lifts and neck lifts, plastic surgeons offer neck liposuction to create a more shapely neck by removing excess fat. Side effects typically are minimal, and a newer laser procedure is even less invasive.
  1. Common Effects

    • The most common side effects of neck liposuction include some swelling and bruising, which can be severe. These effects can last up to three weeks.

    Bleeding

    • Some people experience temporary problems with continued bleeding after neck liposuction, and proper bandaging is important.

    Skin Sensations

    • Tenderness, mild pain and burning sensations also are common and temporary side effects after neck liposuction.

    Additional Side Effects

    • People may have numbness near the incisions, a pulling feeling under the chin, and some uncomfortable tightness from the swelling.

    Cool Lipo

    • Cool Lipo, laser-assisted lipolysis, is a minimally-invasive method of liquefying and removing fat. This technique only causes minimal bruising and offers a much shorter recovery time.
