How do you put someone in recovery position?

To put someone in the recovery position, follow these steps:

1. Check the person's responsiveness: Call their name, shout, and gently tap them. Check whether the person is conscious and breathing normally.

2. Ensure their safety: If the person is in immediate danger, such as a burning house or road traffic collision, move them to safety.

3. Loosen tight clothing: Loosen any tight clothing, especially around the neck, chest, or waist, to make breathing easier.

4. Place them on their side:

a. Kneel beside the person, slightly behind their head.

b. With their closest arm, make a right angle at the elbow, and place the hand under their cheek for support.

c. With their other arm, grab their farthest arm and pull across the chest to rest on their near cheek.

d. Bend the person's hips and knees slightly to stabilize them in this position.

5. Maintain an Open Airway: Adjust their head slightly back to make sure the airway is not obstructed. This position ensures that the person's airway is open and secretions from their mouth or throat drain out, reducing the risk of choking.

6. Stay with the person: Until medical help arrives or until the person is fully conscious, remain with them and monitor their breathing. Ensure they remain in the recovery position and keep their airway clear.
