How to Take Apart the Breg Knee Brace
Knee braces are used in a variety of situations and conditions: post-operation, exercise or for those who have had knee problems. Breg makes a complete line of knee braces for all these situations. There are three basic pieces of any Breg knee brace. The first are the straps that secure the brace to the leg. The second is the skeleton of the brace, which provides the structural support. The third is the joint, where the upper and lower part of the brace meet; this part gives the user limited flexibility in the knee joint. While Breg knee braces are built to withstand abuse, it is possible to take one apart.Things You'll Need

1
Determine what style of Breg knee brace you own. The following directions apply to the T-Scope brace, which Breg calls its "most versatile of all post-op braces."
-
2
Take the T-Scope brace off the user's leg. Disassembling the brace can expose some sharp metal parts that could scratch the skin.
-
3
Remove the clips from the straps. A seam cutter can help free the clips.
-
4
Remove the straps (there are four of them) from the brace's skeleton. Again, a seam cutter can help loosen the straps from their harness without damaging the material.
-
5
Disassemble the skeleton. The T-Scope brace has friction locks along its spine, which allow the user to change the length of the brace. These locks are secured using screws, which are covered with protective caps. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pop off the protective caps. Use the screwdriver to loosen the screws.
-
6
Take apart the brace at the joint. Again, use the screwdriver to first remove the protective cap and then to loosen the screw connecting the top and bottom part of the brace.
