How to Remove Contact Lens Bandages

Contact lens bandages protect your eyes following an injury or surgery. The lens bandages allow your eyes to heal properly, lessening the chance of infection and, in some cases, relieve pain. When using contact lens bandages, you'll want to follow carefully your doctor's directions. Remove some contact lens bandages using a doctor, while remove others each night before bed. Removing the latter is similar to removing traditional soft contact lenses.

• Contact lens storage case
• Soap
• Water

  Wash your hands with soap and water before touching your contact lens bandages. If your hands aren't clean, you run the risk of infection when touching your eye.

  Prepare your storage case by filling each side about three-quarters of the way up with contact lens solution. Leaving your contact lens bandages in the solution overnight will keep them from drying out.

  Stand in front of a mirror and look up while pulling down your lower eyelid with your middle finger. Use your index finger to slide the lens bandage down to the white of your eye, lightly squeezing the lens bandage between your index finger and thumb and removing it from your eye.

  Place the contact lens bandage in the storage case and secure the cover tightly. Put the left contact lens bandage in the side of the storage case labeled left.

  Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for your other eye if you are wearing two contact lens bandages.
