    Typical LASIK

    • The basic cost for a non-customized LASIK using a microkeratome---a precision surgical instrument with an oscillating blade designed for creating the corneal flap in LASIK---is approximately $1,750 per eye. An excimer laser, which isn't guided by wavefront analysis, is also used.

    Special Types

    • A fee of approximately $2,300 will cover the cost for a wavefront-guided LASIK using a laser-created flap. LASIK surgeons may also add a surcharge for cutting-edge or niche technologies, which can include "wavefront analysis" for extremely precise corrections.

    Considerations

    • Generally, the sole standard is that LASIK prices are quoted per eye even if both eyes receive the corrective procedure on the same day. Keep in mind that prices quoted by doctors double if you have both eyes corrected.
