Illumination
-
The Leica M525 F20 has two independent 180W xenon arc-lamp illumination systems. This ensures that during usage, if one should fail, the other lamp will remain functional. The surgeon just has to flip a switch to activate the other lamp and will be able to finish the surgery.
BrightCare
-
BrightCare is a technology developed by Leica as a safety precaution for using the instrument with burn victims. It controls the output of illumination on the patient, decreasing the intensity of the light as the microscope is moved closer to the patient's body. Light intensity is adjusted as working distance is changed.
Leica Zoom Video Adapter

This feature of the Leica M525 F20 has three optical zoom options to take microscopic video of the surgery and transfer it to a larger screen for the surgeons to view. It provides an accurate view of specific areas so that even the smallest of incisions will be carried out accurately and safely.

The control electronics is a graphical interface, providing up to 10 programmable user-specific configurations. Surgeons can also choose to input specific configurations for plastic, spine and neuro surgeries.
