How to Donate Your Body Parts
Becoming an organ donor, while not an easy choice, is an easy process. There is no cost and all you have to do is make sure you are registered with the proper agencies. All you need is to indicate your intent to donate. The suitability of your organs will be determined at the time of donation. Once you've registered, all you need to do is keep your license or organ donor card on you at all times.Things You'll Need
- Organ donor card
- Driver's license (optional)

1
Register with the organ donor registry in your state. The process varies from state to state. For full information on how to register in your home state, you can find a list of all state organ donor and tissues registries online at OrganDonor.gov.
-
2
Obtain a driver's license that states that you are an organ donor. This way, if you are deceased in an accident, the attending paramedics will know that you have already agreed to donate your body parts as needed. You do not need to obtain a new license if your old one has not yet expired (although you can exercise that option if you choose. Contact your local Department of Motor Vehicles for more information).

3
Sign a donor card and keep it on you at all times. By having this car in your possession, people will know that you are a donor, even if you do not have a driver's license or if you do not have your license in your possession if you die suddenly. You can download a page of eight donor cards on the national organ donor website.
