Lipodissolve Results
Lipodissolve is an incision-free fat-removal procedure. Synthetic bile and phosphatidylcholine are injected under the skin into the fat. Proponents say these two substances then work to break down the fat, which the liver and kidneys then remove naturally. The result is a slimmer, leaner appearance.-
Benefits
-
The benefits of Lipodissolve as compared to liposuction or other fat-removal surgery are that Lipodissolve is much less invasive and therefore much easier on the patient, and recovery is shorter. No anesthesia is typically required.
Drawbacks
-
As of October 2010, Lipodissolve is not FDA-approved, and its benefits and safety have not been firmly established.
It can be less precise and less effective than liposuction. Also, in order to keep from flooding the body's kidneys and liver with fat, only one small area can be treated at a time. Therefore several Lipodissolve treatments are often needed.
Overall Results
-
While Lipodissolve was still awaiting FDA approval and conclusive clinical trials as of late 2010, a study by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery suggested that Lipodissolve may have a role in removing small pockets of fat. Many patients reported that they are satisfied with the slimmer, leaner appearance of the treated areas.
