How do doctors remove foreskin?

Doctors can remove the foreskin through a few different procedures:

1. Circumcision: This is the most common procedure for removing the foreskin. It is usually performed on newborn boys within the first few days of life. However, it can also be done on older boys or men. During circumcision, the doctor cuts the foreskin away from the penis and seals the edges of the skin with stitches or surgical glue.

2. Frenuloplasty: This procedure is often done to correct a tight frenulum (the membrane that connects the foreskin to the underside of the penis). A tight frenulum can make it difficult or painful to erect the penis and can also interfere with urination. During a frenuloplasty, the doctor will release the tight frenulum by making a small cut in the tissue.

3. Dorsal Slit: This procedure is used to widen a narrow opening in the foreskin known as a stenotic prepuce. During a dorsal slit, the doctor makes a small vertical cut in the foreskin to enlarge the opening.

4. Excision of Foreskin Papilloma: Foreskin papilloma refers to growths within the foreskin which tend to occur in older age. An excision is a minor procedure whereby this tissue/growth is removed to ensure normal hygiene at the tip of the penis.
