What is colpocervical?
Colpocervical refers to the area where the vagina and cervix meet. The cervix is the lower, narrow end of the uterus that opens into the vagina. Colpocervical examinations involve evaluating this area for any abnormalities or changes, often as part of a routine gynecological exam or screening for conditions like cervical cancer. During a colposcopy, a specialized magnifying instrument called a colposcope is used to examine the cervix, and colposcopy-directed biopsies may be performed to collect tissue samples if necessary.
