What is the meaning of posteriorly portruding disc?

Posteriorly protruding disc refers to a condition where the intervertebral disc, the soft, cushion-like structure between the bones (vertebrae) of the spine, bulges or protrudes backward from its normal position towards the spinal canal. This bulging can put pressure on the spinal cord or nerve roots, leading to various symptoms such as pain, numbness, or weakness. Posteriorly protruding discs can occur in any part of the spine, but are most common in the lower back (lumbar spine).
