Why doctor places his fingers on a wrist?

There are a few reasons why a doctor might place their fingers on a patient's wrist.

Checking the pulse. The pulse is a measure of the heart rate, and it can be felt by placing fingers on the radial artery, which is located on the inside of the wrist. The normal resting heart rate for adults is between 60 and 100 beats per minute. However, the heart rate can increase during exercise, fever, or other conditions.

Checking the blood pressure. The blood pressure is a measure of the force of blood against the walls of the arteries. It is measured in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg), and the normal blood pressure for adults is 120/80 mm Hg. However, the blood pressure can increase with age, smoking, obesity, and other conditions.

Listening for heart murmurs. A heart murmur is an abnormal sound that is heard during a heartbeat. Heart murmurs can be caused by a variety of conditions, including heart valve problems, congenital heart defects, and infections.

Checking for other medical conditions. In addition to the above, a doctor may also place their fingers on a patient's wrist to check for other medical conditions, such as anemia, dehydration, and thyroid problems.
