Remedy for a Fat Lip Injection

If your lip has been injured, or you are taking a lip injection, a side effect can be that your lip is swollen . This is also known as having a fat lip. While a fat lip will go down in time, there are also some easy home remedies that can help lessen the swelling. Whether soothing an injury or dealing with a side effect of swelling, these simple remedies will soothe and heal.
  1. Fat Lip From Injection

    • Mix honey and butter. Apply to lips. You can also apply honey combined with castor oil to your lips. You can try an ice pack , but be careful that it doesn't stick to or dry out your lips. Mixing dried gooseberry with honey and applying to lips helps with a fat lip from injections. The honey soothes the lip while the dried gooseberry promotes quick healing.

Mixing essential oils of lavender or peppermint with vegetable oils makes a great mixture to add to your lips. It will not only help the swelling of the fat lip , but will help soothe the pain from the injection if one was administered.

Vaseline or petroleum jelly is also a great way keep lips moisturized and to help lessen the swelling of an injection. Vaseline is not appropriate for any open cuts or sores on lips.

    Injury Fat Lip

    • Perhaps your fat lip is not a result of an injection, but a result of an injury. In that case, treatments must be varied because you may have a cut or gash on your lip. That means that whatever you apply to your lip should not burn or clot your gash.

If your lip has become fat from a gash or injury, than the best home remedy is aloe vera mixed with diluted tree oil. The aloe vera will soothe your cut and the tree oil will act as an antiseptic to keep you from getting an infection. It will help heal the gash and then help the lip swelling go down. Do not use petroleum jelly if your fat lip is a result of an injury. It could clog the cut on your lip and promote infection. An ice pack may help if immediately applied, but will only aid in lessening the swelling and not the healing of any cuts or gashes.
