How to Use the XOMED Straight Shot
The Xomed Straight Shot is a line of handpieces for use with the XPS Micro System and other medical devices produced by Medtronic Xomed. The XPS Micro System is a surgical device for use by otorhinolaryngologists to perform a variety of surgeries, including functional endoscopic sinus surgery, adenoidectomy, rhinoplasty and dermabrasion. A surgical blade or bur is attached to a Xomed Straight Shot handpiece, which is then used in surgery with the XPS Micro or other surgical device. These surgical devices enable surgeons to use micro-blades to perform delicate surgeries with additional functions like irrigation or suction.Things You'll Need

Attach the irrigation tubing. Adjust the clamp on the irrigation tubing to off and puncture the bag of sterile irrigant. Push the free end of the irrigant tubing into the irrigation port of the blade until it passes the barb and is held in place. Attach the suction tubing to the suction port of the handpiece. Attach standard suction tubing between the exhaust port of the handpiece and a dedicated suction canister. Also attach irrigation tubing to handpiece. Use the clip provided at the top of the handpiece cable to secure and minimize strain on both the suction and irrigation tubing.

Perform the indicated surgery or surgeries. Please note that the use of a bur without irrigation may lead to build up of heat and thermal tissue damage. Do not change blades or burs with the handpiece running.

5
Disassamble system after surgery. Remove tubing from handpiece and then take out the blade or bur from the locking collet and dispose of properly. Remove the handpiece and foot control cables from the console and make sure all reusable system components are cleaned and sterilized.
