How to Fix Com Surrogate Errors

Com Surrogate Errors is a common problem with Windows Vista operating system, which is caused by a video codec that is not necessarily compatible with Windows Vista. The message shows up when Vista tries to bring up the first frame, and it causes the Com Surrogate extension to close down. The codec is a program with the ability to encode and decode digital date streams. Problems with Com Surrogate Errors occur less in the Windows XP operating system but can still occur.

  Click "Advanced System Settings" located at top left corner. Under the "Performance" field click "Settings."

  Go to "Data Execution Prevention" tab. Select "Turn on Data Execution Prevention" for all programs and services.

  Click "Add." Browse to c:windowssystem32 and select dllhost.exe. Next click "Apply." Restart your computer, and the problem should be will be solved.
