Cardiothoracic surgery involves any operation of the chest or thoracic cavity, including surgery of the heart and lungs. Some surgeons specialize in cardiothoracic surgery, and some may specialize in certain types of cardiothoracic surgery, such as heart surgery or lung surgery.-
