How to Heal Bullet Wounds
A bullet wound is a potentially and almost always fatal. If not treated properly and in a timely fashion, bullet wounds will lead to death either from severe blood loss or serious infection. Modern medicine has produced highly effective methods for treatment of bullet wounds, however in pioneer times, a bullet wound meant almost certain death or possible amputation. The traditional method for removing a bullet and dressing the wound isn't a glamorous process, and soldiers on the battlefield know all too well the horror of this process. - Alcohol or hydrogen peroxide
- Towels
- Hemostats
- Needle and thread
- Water
- Small file and scalpel
- Bandages

Stop the bleeding by applying pressure directly to the wound with any available clean cloth. If the bullet has exited the body, apply pressure to both puncture areas.

Remove the bullet, if it's still inside the body, with a pair of sterilized hemostats. Most bullets fragment upon impact so ensure that all bullet fragments are removed.

Apply a disinfectant such as alcohol or hydrogen peroxide to the wound, inside and out. Be sure to clean away any dirt or debris from the area.

Use a knife to cut away any dead flesh from the entire cavity of the wound, scrub the wound with a small file to loosen any dead or infected skin tissue.

Apply a disinfectant once again and wash the wound thoroughly with cool water. Sew the wound up using a needle and thread in a running cross stitch pattern after the bleeding has subsided. Bandage the wound securely.
