Halothane Side Effects
Halothane is a general anesthetic that is used to produce loss of consciousness prior to surgery. This medication has also been known to control seizures caused by certain medical conditions in some users as well. As with most medications, there are a number of side effects that have been associated with using Halothane.-
Common Side Effects

Some of these side effects associated with using Halothane include shivering, trembling, blurred vision, general vision problems, dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, drowsiness, mood changes, nausea, unusual dreams and nightmares. While there are considered the most common side effects associated with using the drug, they only affect a small number of users.
Severe Side Effects

Unfortunately, there are also some severe side effects that have been reported by some users. Some of these side effects include stomach or abdominal pain, back pain, bloody vomit, headache, fever, loss of appetite, unusual changes in urination patterns, unusual tiredness, weakness, weight loss and yellowing of the skin. These side effects are also very rare and do not affect a large amount of users.

This medication has not been tested on pregnant women; however, it has caused birth defects in other species, so please consult with your doctor before using this drug. Adults over the age of 65 are most susceptible to the associated side effects, and caution should be taken before administering them the drug.

This drug is administered through injection and should be given by a medical professional in a medical setting. Dosages will vary according to a number of factors: your age, general physical condition, type of surgical procedure being performed and other medications taken prior to the surgery. General anesthetics may cause you to feel tired after waking up from your surgery, so it is recommended that you do not operate any type of machinery (including an automobile) for 24 hours after the drug was administered.
