Instructions

1
Tell your doctor the medications you take regularly and whether you are allergic to any medications or anesthetics. Also inform your doctor if you have any bleeding problems or take any blood thinning medications such as aspirin or heparin. Stop taking aspirin one week prior to the biopsy. If you don't stop, tell your doctor.

2
Continue eating and drinking as usual. It is unnecessary to abstain from food or drink before this procedure if the doctor performs it under local anesthetic. If the biopsy requires general anesthesia then the doctor will give other directions (see Resources below).
-
3
Prepare yourself to give a urine sample on the day of the test. The biopsy procedure takes 15 to 20 minutes. The doctor may give you certain recommendations that you should follow after this procedure.
